This webinar, “Rethinking Global Issues: Climate Action in ELT,” showcased innovative English language teaching projects from Sub-Saharan Africa. Presenters shared diverse approaches: integrating indigenous ecological knowledge (Uganda), creating school food gardens to combat pollution and teach language (Kenya), conducting eco-island field trips for authentic English practice and environmental awareness (Zanzibar), and implementing “Green English” projects focused on climate storytelling and community simulations (Tanzania). The session highlighted practical, real-world applications for language learners to become agents of environmental change.
