Teachers are quitting due to the unprecedented challenges posed by Gen Alpha students. Issues include students’ over-reliance on technology, leading to shorter attention spans, difficulty engaging in offline activities, and a lack of motivation. Poor parenting, marked by emotional neglect and excessive device use, alongside helicopter parenting undermining teacher authority, exacerbates problems. Gen Alpha also exhibits increased emotional sensitivity, anxiety, defiance, and disregard for traditional authority, causing classroom disruptions. Teachers feel unequipped to handle these new dynamics and unrealistic expectations, leading to a “teacher crisis” requiring systemic adaptation and better support.
