Giving Feedback on PTE Writing Tasks

This webinar, led by Magda Wood, focused on providing effective feedback for PTE “Write Essay” tasks. Key takeaways included understanding the seven scoring traits: Content, Form, Development/Structure/Coherence, Grammar, General Linguistic Range, Vocabulary Range, and Spelling. Three traits are scored 0-6 by AI and humans, while four are scored 0-2 by AI only. The session emphasized using these criteria to give strategic, actionable feedback, suggesting methods like differentiated feedback, focusing on specific traits, and the “two stars and a wish” approach. Teachers were encouraged to promote clear student positions and utilize Pearson’s official resources.
