Christopher Graham, an ELT consultant, spoke at an online conference about embedding sustainability into daily life and ELT practices. He stressed that sustainability extends beyond environmental concerns, encompassing all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, including health, education, and decent work. Graham provided practical advice for teachers, such as adapting existing course materials, creating new content, using diverse activity types, and making classrooms sustainable (e.g., reducing paper/energy). He also advised using AI efficiently to lessen its environmental impact. Graham argued for top-down ministerial mandates to systematically integrate sustainability into curricula and urged teachers to share their efforts.
