How to create a space for everyone – inclusive practices in action

The inaugural South Asia Teaching English Online Conference opened with welcoming remarks from Sujata Bhonsale and Sarah Rogerson of the British Council. The conference, spanning three days, focuses on teacher professional development. A panel discussion on inclusive practices followed, featuring experts from Pakistan, India, and Nepal. Panelists discussed key factors for inclusive classrooms (socioeconomic status, gender, neurodiversity), shared successful strategies (adaptable materials, remediation, UDL), and addressed challenges, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and adapting resources to low-resource contexts. The session highlighted the need for adaptable teaching methods and culturally relevant materials.
