The IATEFL ESPIG (English for Specific Purposes Special Interest Group) hosted its annual Open Forum, welcoming members and newcomers. The event featured introductions of committee members and partners like TESOL ESPIS, along with presentations from sponsors. Topics covered diverse areas: ESP project leadership profiles, boosting teacher professional development, utilizing AI flaws as learning material, hybrid diagnostic writing assessments, rapid ESP course design using the ABC framework, student-generated videos for communicative competence, challenges in designing ESP courses, and leveraging generative AI for personalized materials. The forum also provided updates on ESPIG’s financials, outreach, scholarships, its “Professional and Academic English” journal, and upcoming events. The session concluded with a prize draw.
