Noticing grammar

The British Council live session introduces “noticing grammar” with expert Ganga. It’s defined as actively observing, analyzing, and reflecting on grammar in context, promoting discovery learning and learner autonomy over explicit form-focused teaching. This helps students confidently apply grammar in real-life situations by connecting form and meaning. Practical techniques include integrating noticing into reading and listening by using visual cues (colors, shapes, underlining) in texts to highlight grammar structures and time expressions. Games like tic-tac-toe or adapted snake and ladders also foster contextual grammar observation and interaction, making learning fun and effective across all levels.
