Helping children see their improvement

This British Council webinar discusses helping young learners recognize their language progress. Experts emphasize that seeing progress boosts motivation. Strategies include clear learning objectives (using the ABCD framework: Achievable, Believable, Conceivable, Desirable), simple self-reflection methods (e.g., “two stars and a wish”), group activities with peer assessment, and communicating progress to parents via reflection sheets and portfolios. Using badges, stamps, and digital tools are also suggested, alongside fostering a positive learning environment to build confidence and risk-taking.
